I had long been looking forward to visiting Bhutan and was concerned that the trip could in no way meet my expectations. The opposite turned out to be true; thanks in large part to Namgay of Bhutan Majestic Travel, my time in Bhutan far surpassed even my highest hopes.
Bhutan is like no other place I have traveled; the combination of the mountains, people, color and culture is truly a recipe for magic. But what’s important to remember is that your time in Bhutan is considerably informed by whom you select to be your local tour operator. I cannot overstate the importance of seeing Bhutan through the eyes of a knowledgeable, intelligent, adventurous and flexible guide. Even throughout our travels, my companions and I repeatedly remarked on how lucky we were to have Namgay to accompany us, not only because he has all of these outstanding professional qualities, but because he was truly enjoyable to spend time with as a person and as a friend. He made what would have been a great trip into a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
